Coach Rivas brings a powerful blend of international experience, competitive grit, and developmental leadership to every court he steps on. A former university scholarship athlete in Mexico, he competed at the collegiate level with discipline and heart—building the foundation for a coaching philosophy rooted in commitment, respect, and growth.
His coaching journey began in Mexico, where he led the "Instituto Nuevo Continente" high school team to a second-place finish in the Querétaro State Championship during his first year as a coach—an early achievement that reflects his ability to inspire young athletes and build cohesive, high-performing teams.
After relocating to Ontario, Canada, Coach Rivas reconnected with his passion for basketball, guiding his first Canadian team (Boys U14) to a division runner-up and bronze‑medal finish at the Ontario Basketball Cup. This milestone highlights his mindset, adaptability, and ability to elevate young talent in competitive environments.
Now serving as Head Coach of the York South Silver Knights U15 Boys Rep program, he continues to shape athletes into confident, skilled, and resilient individuals.
Committed to the safety and well-being of his players, Coach Rivas maintains active First Aid and CPR certification.
Fluent in English, Spanish, and French, he connects deeply with diverse families and athletes, fostering a team culture grounded in communication, accountability, and mutual respect.
Drawing on his experience as an athlete, father, and coach, he leads with integrity and purpose—whether guiding a newcomer through their first tryout or sharpening the mindset of a seasoned competitor.
